Une Hépatite est une inflammation chronique ou aiguë du foie qui peut être due à l’alcoolisme, à certains médicaments, à un virus, etc. Dans le cas l’hépatite A, l’infection est virale et due au VHA un virus de la famille des picornavirus.
Contagion et symptôme
La transmission de l’hépatite A se fait essentiellement par la consommation d’eau souillée par le contact avec les matières fécales d’une personne atteinte. La contagion marque le début d’une période d’incubation qui dure entre 2 et 4 semaines. Cette période débouche sur phase asymptomatique dans 90% des cas et sur une phase symptomatique dans 10% des cas.
